About the Work

Can You See Me opens a visual dialogue about identity, perception, and truth within the LGBTQIA+ community. It speaks to the experience of being seen only through the lens of stereotypes of being recognized for queerness before being acknowledged as a whole person.

The portrait reveals the tension between exposure and concealment: the purity of the self, stripped of pretense, contrasted with the vivid colors of the rainbow flag that both shield and define. It asks the viewer to look deeper, beyond the labels, beyond the mask, and to truly see the person within.
